FRIDAY MOTIVATING FARMER

Our very First Friday motivating Farmer#FMF goes out to Farmer Gaarekwe Mopelwa who is a Live stock farmer.

Just like anyone else it all started as a dream and through hard work he is now living the dream.

Farming has always been Farmer Gaarekwe's dream career, he has been farming for a few years now and best believe that it hasn't always been easy.

Farmer Gaarekwe Mopelwa Farms Goats, Sheeps and Cattles. He says one day he would like to be commercial and feed the nation by supplying high quality red meat. With the amount of dedication and hard work he puts in on a day to day basis it's only a matter of time.

Farmer Mopelwa's passion began at the age of 15, he has never been funded by any programme and he didn't wait upon being funded or even doubt he's capability of making it happen without funds.

It's all about wanting it enough to make it happen, irregardless of the hardships one must never let hardships make them give up. It's always wise to pause for a moment, push the hardship aside after tackling them and keep going.

The biggest challenges faced by Farmer Gaarekwe has been drought and grassing land. Live stock needs a grassy land for feeds and water is an imidiate need both to keep the grass green and for the live stock to drink.

No matter the challenges or hardships giving up was never an option to our FMF he kept going and finding solutions to every problem. When he started his business he had three employees and he now has one employee, hardships are there not discourage but to encourage.

He does his marketing by taking his products to Agricultural shows. He is currently a supplier of Formal and informal markets.

It isn't easy for the youth to keep believing in their dream of being successful farmers today because farming is seen by many as a hard labour job. If it's not an office job then it's not proper, that's what the youth of today believe.

Farmer Gaarekwe Mopelwa's goal is to become a commercial farmer soon.

We at Seripa Agricultural skills Development Project would like to Thank You farmer Mopelwa for taking your time to share your story with us. If there's any commercial live stock farmer reading this and would like to mentor or give farmer Mopelwa tips kindly let us know, together more can be done. The soil is our roots!
